I am
Not nauseous, I don’t have any reason not to eat, but I have NO appetite and food doesn’t even sound good.

Even lifelong comfort foods have no appeal. Have lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks.

Having been an obese woman most of my adult life, the idea of losing 10 pounds is exciting and joyous. But I know in this situation it can’t continue!

I will make an appointment with nutritionist asap, but if you have experience this lack of appetite what have you done?

Members rallied around someone experiencing complete loss of appetite during cancer treatment, sharing the challenge of finding foods that unexpectedly appeal while longtime favorites lose all taste. Several members described surviving on unlikely combinations like gelato and saltines, mini pot stickers and watermelon, bean quesadillas, or bone broth, with many emphasizing the unpredictable nature of cravings that change day to day. A recurring theme was the importance of eating whatever sounds tolerable in the moment, prioritizing protein through shakes or soft foods, and exploring appetite-stimulating options like edibles or medications such as Megestrol with an oncologist's guidance.

I am not on chemo and it is not recommended at this time. My cancer is hormone positive, estrogen and progesterone, so I am on a hormone blocker, letrozole. After much research and reading I took a nutritional approach to what I am eating and wanted to lose weight because estrogen is stored in fat cells. Cancer also likes sugar so I eat very little sugar and keep carbs to a minimum. Hoping all this gets me time but the hormone blockers will eventually stop working. Trying to eat keto but have more protein than keto wants but I feel healthy. My daughter is a nurse and has also suggested supplements for various things. For constipation she recommended magnesium before bed. It helps for constipation and helps you sleep.

I lost 30 pounds, and I had no appetite at all. I also had many side effects, including sores and the inability to eat anything spicy, as it would burn. I had to get my appetite back. I could eat potatoes, carrots, and protein. The trick I used was edibles that stimulated my appetite. It work!

It's really interesting to hear what other people are finding appetising and what has lost all taste! Living in France, the French live for their food and it's difficult for people to appreciate that I really don't want to eat! I used to eat too much meat, now I find it's just not digestible. Eggs, scrambled mostly, are OK and fish is good as well. I want to eat sweet things, but know that isn't good, although since treatments, my blood sugar has gone down a lot. I enjoy mashed potatoes, various vegetables but small quantities and I can eat lots of fruit with pleasure!
My favourite thing is Gazpachio soup, we are lucky to have a bumper crop of tomatoes , garlic and cucumbers this year. Would love to hear what is successful for everyone else. My weight has slowly gone down from 79 kilos to 62 kilos (sorry, no idea what that is in pounds) but that weight feels good.
Bon apetif to everyone!

Due to Lenvima, I struggle with eating as well. I am hungriest in the morning, so I try to eat as big a breakfast as I can. I also find that some foods just don’t taste like they are supposed to. For example, I no longer like the taste of chocolate! That’s just wrong.
I do find I do better with liquids & soft foods. I supplement with vegan protein shakes from Kate Farms (the ones for tube feeding that are 100% nutritionally complete). The chocolate & vanilla are good. Also bone broth is s good source of protein if you consume meat. The nutritionist I met with told me not to be concerned with eating “processed “ foods such as protein shakes & bars. The fact that they are processed makes the protein easier for your body to absorb. I’ve lost almost 40 lbs since starting Lenvima, so at this point, any calories I can get into my body will help.
I will be interested in finding out what tips you get from the nutritionist you see. Oh, and flan is a super food in my world!

I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes I actually crave something in particular and eat it ravenously but the next day, if it is suggested again, it sounds completely unappealing.
