Myometrial invasion was 100% but the tumor hadn’t spread to any other organ, though the cauterized cut still had some tumor present, therefore the brachytherapy needed. I wasn’t menopausal before the hysterectomy & wondering if anyone was allowed to take HRT with a similar diagnosis

Can someone with stage 1b endometrial cancer use hormone replacement therapy (HRT) after hysterectomy?

This is an important question to discuss directly with your healthcare provider, as the decision about HRT after endometrial cancer treatment is highly individualized and depends on several factors specific to your case.

After a hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (removal of ovaries), you'll experience menopause if you haven't already. This can cause symptoms that HRT might help manage. However, since endometrial cancer can be hormone-sensitive, there are important considerations about using HRT.

Your treatment team will need to evaluate:
- The specific type and grade of your endometrial cancer
- Your hormone receptor status
- Your individual risk factors
- The severity of menopausal symptoms you're experiencing

Some people with early-stage endometrial cancer may be candidates for HRT, while others may not be, depending on their cancer characteristics. Your gynecologic oncologist is the best person to assess whether HRT is safe for your particular situation.

If HRT isn't recommended, your healthcare provider can suggest other options for managing menopausal symptoms that may develop after your surgery and ovary removal.
