Sarah, my port does not bother me compared to the side effects of chemo! I will be patient and wait for my 3 yr mark before I ask about removal:)

Hi Sarah, Thanks so much for your reply. I have the same type of endometrial cancer as you so will be patient and put up with the minor discomfort it causes me.

Are you on a 3 month schedule for having your port flushed?

My next oncology appointment is not until April, but I will ask about my chemo port then and get back to you:)

Hi Jenny. I hope your day is going well so far. I asked your question of my oncologist several months ago. I asked if it would be OK to take mine out this spring, which would be close to two years after my final chemo. He said it was too soon. Then I asked if it would be OK to remove it three years after the end of my treatment, and he said that would be fine. I'm not sure if my type of endometrial cancer (the high grade aggressive serous carcinoma) was a factor in my oncologist's answer.

I am curious what other people were told by their doctors and when they took their ports out or plan to take their ports out.

Jenny - yes, I get it flushed every three months. I’m sorry yours bothers you sometimes.

My port bothers me sometimes when I sleep, it does not like pressure on it and sometimes it gives me a twinge when I lift light weights. Sounds like patience is the order of the day:)
