I've just moved from stage 3 to 4. My chemo was cancelled after four infusions as new tumor and distant metastases was found. I wasn't in any pain before but was prescribed olanzapine after the first infusion because I was only sleeping two hours per night. That drug has really helped me sleep 6-8 hrs per night!

What can help with sleep problems and loss of appetite during chemotherapy for stage 4 endometrial cancer?
It's wonderful that you're supporting your friend through this challenging time. Sleep issues and decreased appetite are common chemotherapy side effects that should be discussed with her cancer care team right away.
For the sleep troubles, even with pain medication, her doctor needs to know this isn't working well enough. They can adjust medications or suggest additional options to help her rest better.
Regarding appetite loss, here are some approaches that may help:
* Talk to her care team about antinausea medications if nausea is contributing to the appetite loss
* Ask about connecting with a registered dietitian who can create an eating plan tailored to her needs
* Focus on nutrient-dense foods when she does feel like eating - whole grains, healthy fats, and proteins
* Avoid heavily processed foods or those high in hydrogenated oils, as they can increase inflammation
Her cancer care team can also recommend treatments to manage these side effects and prevent them from getting worse. Palliative care specialists work alongside the cancer treatment team to improve quality of life by addressing physical symptoms like these, as well as emotional and mental health needs.
The most important step is encouraging her to communicate openly with her healthcare providers about what she's experiencing so they can adjust her care plan accordingly.
