Dearest Cookie,
I can empathize in you being scared, as I was in your position at the end of October last year and had never heard of serous endometrial carcinoma before. I had no warning signs either.
My oncologist had me in surgery within two weeks of my diagnosis. I had a hyterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy robotic surgery. They also dissected some lymph nodes in my cervix. Recovery was slow, but those scars healed in time.
I also had a port implanted on my right chest since it's not easy to draw my blood even though I drink a lot of fluid daily. I had day surgery for that and it was uncomfortable for a little while, but has healed well and has made it much easier for the labs that are done prior to my chemo and also for my nurses who administer my chemo meds.
This coming Monday will be my third chemo treatment and in time you will be there too. I'm sending you the most positive healing vibes and am believing your journey will help others along the way too.
I had my surgery within a month of turning 79. I had robotic-assited laporoscopic surgery-uterus, cervix, tubes, and ovaries. It was much easier than I had expected..I went home the same day with 5 small incisions across my abdomen and minor lifting restrictions. I was tired and sore for a few days--notning like I remembered from hyterectomies in older family members. Read and ask lots of questions in advance. Surgery is never fun, but the more you know about what to expect, the less frightening it is.
Iβm 71 and had a radical hysterectomy 6 weeks ago, also my first surgery. I had previously had 2 c-sections. Recovery was much much easier than I expected. Take it slow, rest, follow dr instructions. My biggest problem was cancer required bladder repair that left me with a catheter Iβm hoping will finally be removed this week. Meeting chemo Dr this week. Sending you positive thoughts & good vibes on your surgery!
Hugs and prayers for you
