I had a radical robotic hysterectomy. All lymph nodes, washing, etc were clear of any cancer cell. I had a tumor in the uterus that was 53 % through the endomitrium. I met with the radiolgy oncologist and he wants to do brachy therapy because of the 53% and my age 74. If I was younger than 60 and less than 50 % I would be done.
Has anyone had brachytherapy and had side effects. Right now I am 5 weeks post op and am feeling great. Wondering how I will feel after the brachytherapy.
Hi Shirley, I finished 3 weeks of brachytherapy last September. I was just a little tired probably from nerves. Really no side effects were experienced. Currently, I am tasked with breaking down the scar tissue in the vagina 3 times a week to keep a clear view of the vaginal cuff so they can see if there is a re-occurrence. I wish you the best.

The recommendation for brachytherapy makes a lot of sense given the depth of tumor involvement (over 50%) and your age — both are recognized risk factors for recurrence.
