I am 13 months post radiation after a recurrence of my 2022 cancer diagnosis. In 2022 I had a complete hysterectomy and was cancer free for 2.5 years.

Hi Lisa! I too went thru radiation. Pelvic and brachytherapy. I have urgency of both bowel and bladder but no cystitis. Long term effects of radiation aren’t really talked about. But given the fact I’m still here, I remain grateful. I signed up for pelvic floor therapy to get help with my symptoms. Please let your oncologist know and see what can be done. I suspect your bladder affected due to the brachytherapy. Best of care to you 🤗

Has anyone else experienced radiation cystitis 13 months after completing radiation treatment for a recurrence of endometrial cancer?

First, it's worth acknowledging how much you've been through — a hysterectomy, 2.5 years of being cancer-free, and then navigating a recurrence and radiation. That's a lot, and you're not alone in dealing with the after-effects.

Radiation cystitis (bladder irritation caused by radiation) is a known side effect of radiation therapy for endometrial cancer. It can show up as:

- Pain or burning when urinating
- Needing to urinate more frequently
- Blood in the urine
- Bladder discomfort or pressure The good news is that these side effects are considered manageable. It's really important to let your cancer care team know what you're experiencing so they can recommend the right treatment plan for you.

Other MyEndometrialCancerTeam members have dealt with radiation side effects too, so sharing your experience in the community may connect you with others who truly understand what you're going through.
