Has anyone experienced endometrial cancer returning to the peritoneal cavity after 3 years, while on Everolimus and Letrozole?
While direct experiences from others aren't available here, some MyEndometrialCancerTeam members have shared that recurrence can happen even after the typical 3-year window, though it's less common. Most recurrences do tend to happen within the first 3 years after treatment. When endometrial cancer returns, several factors influence where and how it comes back, including:
- The original stage of the cancer
- Tumor grade and size
- How deeply the cancer invaded the uterine muscle wall
- The type of endometrial cancer (Type 1 vs. Type 2)
The combination of Everolimus and Letrozole is a recognized treatment approach for recurrent endometrial cancer, so it's great that you're already working with your oncology team on a plan. It's worth having an open conversation with your oncologist about whether additional treatment options — such as immunotherapy, targeted therapy, or clinical trials — might complement your current regimen. New treatments are continuing to improve outcomes for people in similar situations.
Connecting with others on MyEndometrialCancerTeam who've had similar experiences can also be a great source of support and shared insight. 💙
