Serous carcinoma is known to be a more aggressive, fast-growing type of endometrial cancer, which can explain the rapid progression and spread to lymph nodes and lungs. For stage 4 with lung metastases, treatment options your oncologist may consider include:
- Radiation β which you're currently receiving, and can help target specific tumors
- Immunotherapy β newer approvals have shown promise for advanced endometrial cancer
- Hormone therapy β another systemic option
- Alternative chemotherapy combinations β if prior chemo stopped working, different drug combinations may be explored
Given the high blood pressure event that stopped your infusion therapy, it's really important to keep your care team updated on all side effects so they can adjust your plan safely. It may be worth asking your oncologist specifically about immunotherapy options, as several have recently been approved for advanced endometrial cancer and may be a viable next step.
A second opinion from a gynecologic oncology specialist at a major cancer center could also be valuable given how quickly things have progressed.
