(I'm on Taxol, Carboplatin ROUND 1, DAY 11). Rash started 3 days ago and it's getting progressively worse. Moisturizing with a fragrance-free lotion, but wondering if I can take anything - Benadryl? I'M SO UNCOMFORTABLE!! What helped you? I'll try anything for some relief! :)
Thanks and I just spoke to the doctor. He said take 25mg of Benadryl tonight and Zyrtec in the morning, "moisturize like it's a job" and call his office in the morning.
Feeling much better, thanks, and yes my oncologist approved 25 mg of Benadryl at night and a Zyrtec in the morning. Benadryl only as needed but for now the Zyrtec is an every day thing.
First and most importantly - contact your cancer care team right away about your rash. They need to monitor your side effects closely and can provide specific medications and treatments that are safe with your chemotherapy regimen. They may need to adjust your treatment plan or prescribe appropriate medications. While Show Full Answer
Did your oncologist say you could take Benadryl? I know the predrugs I had included IV Benadryl before the chemotherapy. Hope you are feeling better !!🤗
Doctor ended up providing a steroid cream which seemed to calm it down a bit. I also switched moisturizers to one that was recommended specifically for cancer patients and it has been very helpful. Use it a few times a day. Hoping now that I have a routine in place with it and the steroid cream as a back up that I will not suffer so much this round!
