I am about 10 days post immunotherapy Dostarlimab(Jemperli) plus chemo Taxol/ carboplatin, for 4b endometrial cancer and have only had my first round and got a full body rash, not blistering. Very red, itchy, (not scratching it). Oncologist called in a steroid lotion which is not helping a lot and now it's starting on my forehead and a couple spots on my face
Also taking Benadryl and Zyrtec
My oncology Dr did not see me in office as it was pimply looking Friday and now worse today. Spoke to… read more

My Oncologist had me start the Claritin the night before an infusion, the day of the infusion, and then for 5 days afterwards. like you, I hope your rash is just a one off, your body getting familiar with the infusion drugs. Peace and healing prayers to you:)
I took prednisone for a rash that went up my back, across my neck, and onto my head only, it cleared up within a week with prednisone. During subsequent treatment I had other rashes but they were small and manageable with 1% cortisone ointment and Benadryl. Think I took Benadryl and Claritin for at least the first week after a chemo infusion to try and shut down the histamine response. Hope the Benadryl and an over the counter antihistamine are enough to help you. Hang in there!!
My doctor held off of everything except carboplatin for Chemo 2 and waited until my rash was 100% gone, by Chemo 3 to retry Jemperli and taxotere. He said if I took whatever caused the rash too soon without the rash being completely gone i.e. to reset my immune system back to zero before trying again, it could make the rash much worse and last much longer and maybe make taking Jemperli in the future impossible or delay future chemos due to rxn severity. He seemed to think the initial delay would be shorter, better and might allow me to take Jemperli long-term vs jumping back in too soon and causing me not to be able to use Jemperli at all in the future.
Not sure if this would be the same in your case as your rash seems to be clearing up quicker than mine did. Plus I am not a doctor. My rash was 95% gone by chemo 2, 100% by chemo 3. Your doctor will know what is appropriate., I am only relaying my experience as a patient and am not a doctor or giving medical advice.
Fingers crossed ypu can take Jemperli for your second chemo and best wishes for your healing journey. Sending good vibes and prayers your way!
Hi Brita,
Yes thank you we can definitely stay in touch. That would be nice. My pleasure to help as I went through a very similar, worrying experience, including talking to on call dr and nurse, and not able to see my chemo oncologist for almost a week, worrying if my skin was going to peel off. Your rash looks identical to the one I had, in my non medical opinion.
My chemo oncologist is a seasoned veteran, having treated over 100,000 patients, and doing some R&D publications. Not that being new couldnt mean more recent training in modern theraies.
He said the primary ingredient causing the rashes in paclitaxel is the disolving/suspending agent Cremophor EL (polyoxyl 35 castor oil). He said up to 10% of patients have reactions to paclitaxel.
Anyway, glad I could help, I hope you feel better soon, and good luck with your treatment!
Kelly, just wanted to let you know that after I read read your post I called the derm office and begged to see me if they have a cancellation today since the rash is improving so much, I wanted to get eyes on it today, and the reception got me in!!
I brought her a beautiful vase of flowers since I was at grocery store at the time.
Anyway, I want to tell you that if you had not posted your response I may have waited another day , with even less of a rash, (I had not taken serial pics daily, only the first and third day of rash, and no one saw me on the worst days since it was on the weekend and on call Dr. I spoke with)
Anyway, dermatologist is thinking it's Taxol and NOT JEMPERLI, so maybe when my oncologist sees her notes I CAN get Jemperli in a week!!
God bless you for responding to my message, if I had your address I would send you a bouquet of flowers too!! Sending you the best healing energy in the universe!🪷🏵️💐
